See the three men?s entries in the Oxford DNB. 3pp, 12mo. Bifolium. In fair condition, on aged and worn paper, with tape from mount adhering to reverse of second leaf, which is docketted by Manby. Signed ?J Emerson Tennent?. Folded once. He explains that a friend of his, ?who is much interested about the Suez Canal, is going to Egypt next week?, and that he has that day promised, if he can, ?to obtain for him, a copy of an Address which you once gave me, (but which I have put away so carefully that I cannot find it now) delivered by J. M.

Both items are printed with elegant restraint, and  designed by Sebastian Carter (from the horse's mouth). Both are in good condition, with light signs of age and wear. The service with a horizontal central fold and the ticket with a vertical fold. The funeral service is printed in black and red on deckled-edged wove paper. The second page gives details of 'The Music' and the third 'The Order of Service', which features Michael Morpurgo, Richard Hoggart, Robert Lusty and Harry Paroissien, with Rev. Austen Williams officiating. The last page gives details of the eight musicians.

Founded in 1818, the Ipswich firm of W. S. Cowell Ltd ('The Press in the Butter Market') grew into one of the leading British printers, known for its high-quality catalogue work. The firm's papers are in the Suffolk Record Office at Ipswich, whose catalogue entry provides a good summary of its history.

The sheet is 38 x 27.5cm; and the dimensions of the plate are34 x 25cm. At foot of plate: 'London, Published by Thos. Mc.Lean, 26 Haymarket, 1824.' The engravings, each 11 x 8cm., are arranged in two rows of two. In good condition, lightly-aged and with a torn pin hole at head, presumably where the print was torn from its string.
