Five items: Snow's two letters and carbons of three of Mercer's replies (5 and 25 March, and 24 June 1964). ONE: Typed Letter from Samson, signed on his behalf, to the Secretary (i.e. G. E. Mercer), Royal Society of Arts, 28 February 1964. 1p., folio. Confirming that he wishes to give a paper on 'The Relative Merits of the use of Steel or Concrete in Structures', 'with a number of slides showing comparisons of various materials'. At the foot of the page is a signed note from Mercer to Sampson, dated 2 March 1964: 'Do we want this?

Having examined Mrs Damon in her bed, he now finds her 'up & down stairs', and requests Coffin to 'kindly give her a look up & control her & force her to be an invalid for a few days'. Ends with the news that his wife is 'still most seriously & dangerously ill'. 4to, 10 pp. On one side each of ten leaves, attached to one another with a pin. Texts clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper, with light rust staining to the first leaf, which carries Milne's printed covering letter. The other nine leaves carry a testimonial letter each (the last two being by Henry Russell Andrews and Hubert M. Turnbull), all couched in glowing terms. Eve describes Milne as 'one of the best House-Surgeons I have ever had', and Bertrand Dawson states that his 'record is one of brilliant success'.
