110pp., 4to. Paginated to 108, with 58a and 66a. In red exercise book with 'Gwladys Hilda Edmunds | 11 Church Road | Penarth, Glam.' on cover. In fair condition, on lightly aged and worn paper, in creased covers. Inside the front cover Edmunds has written 'Roughly 15,000 words'. A fair copy with a handful of corrections and emendations. An unpublished work of romantic fiction, unusual for the light it casts on the attitudes of the period towards race and colonialism.

6 x 9 cm. Printed in black ink. Laid down on part of a leaf, carrying on the reverse a part of an inscription in French from 'votre affectionée Eugénie'. Lightly-aged, and discoloured from the glue used in mounting. Within a decorative border characteristic of the period depicts a distant prospect of the college, with two boats rowing on the river, and a middle-class couple (she with bustle, he with top hat) with dog on bank in foreground.

Printed beige boards, hinge strain at front cover, condition mainly good., 3 or 4 days to the pages, additional space for notes not used. Mainly a record of times, dates, people involved in a busy life of professional and social engagements, and expenditure, at the beginning of Bonham-Carter's years with The House of Collins. He records the occasional "Edit. Meting" (3 Jan. possibly his first?). Information also includes phone numbers and addresses. His background obviously gave him access to many circles.

A collection of jeux d'esprit, addressed to individuals only identified by their initials. Uncommon: copies on COPAC at the British Library, Oxford, National Library of Scotland and Trinity College Dublin.
