The two items on aged and worn paper. ONE: Printed circular letter, printed in blue on firm's letterhead, with royal warrant in red at head. 1p., 4to. After boasting of the firm's prices compared with those of other firms, the letter boasts: 'We are the only firm in the world engaged in making bottled Cider and Perry on a large scale by the same processes in all respects as are employed in the production of the Sparkling Wines of Rheims and Epernay.

32pp., 8vo. Stitched pamphlet. In fair condition, aged and spotted. In small print, with footnotes. One minor manuscript emendation.

7pp., 12mo. On two bifoliums. In good condition. A long and detailed letter, asking, '[i]n accordance with a resolution of the Wts. & Measures Committee', for Harington's opinion on a point of law, in relation to the charging of fees by inspectors, with reference to 'the provisions of the Acts of 1878 and 1889' and the 'decision in Rex v. Roberts'. Towards the conclusion Anthony states: 'The Wts.

1p., 12mo. Seventeen lines of neatly-written text. Good, on lightly-aged paper. He apologises for the delay in replying to Reid's letter, and knows 'nothing about the staircase you mention as coming from a house in Holborn, & now in a house in Bishopswood.' He 'looked it up in R[oyal]. C[ommision]. H[istorical]. M[onumments]., (Vol. II) Hertfordshire (par. of Walford-on-Wye) but Bishopswood is only mentioned re some romann remains.' He hopes Reid is 'enjoying the Herefordshire countryside', and is himself finding life 'rather hectic'.

On one side of a piece of foolscap (33 x 20.5 cm). Text clear and complete. On aged paper, with wear to extremities and slight loss to bottom right-hand corner. Three items are listed: 'Description of Ancient Glass at Credenhill' (1884), 'The simile of ancient glass in Bristol Church representing St George in full military costume' and '[Herefordshire] Words & Phrases' (1887). Havergal adds nine lines of annotation to the last item, beginning: '- see Prospectus - issued to Subscribers only at 2/6. present price 4/- issue very small - only 300 copies which will soon be sold out.

All 3 items are in very good condition. Item 1 is an Autograph Letter Signed of 7 October 1910, 1 page, 8vo, from George Okell, solicitor of Ross, on his letterhead, to 'F. R. James Esq | Hereford'. He is enclosing 'circulars relating to a Landowners Society, which several Landowners in this district wish to form in the County.
