Faint franking postmark in red ink. Laid out in Palmerston’s neat and stylish hand in the customary way, and reading: ‘London February Twenty 1826 / Peter Legh Esqr. Junr / Haydock Lodge / Warrington’, with the signature ‘Palmerston’ at bottom left. See image.

4to, 1 p. Nine lines. Text clear and complete. On bifolium of paper watermarked 'J WHATMAN | 1855'. Aged and lightly-stained. Reads 'I have the Honor to inform you that Parliament having been called to meet on Thursday the 3d of December Business of great Importance will then immediately be brought forward, and I trust that it may be consistent with your Convenience to attend in your Place in the House of Commons on that Day'. From the papers of James Wyld (1812-1887), cartographer and Member of Parliament for Bodmin.

1p, 12mo. In fair condition, lightly aged, margins cropped, laid down on leaf removed from album. Annotated in ink with year. Reads 'Lord Palmerston presente ses Complimens a Monsr de Harivel et se fera l'honneur de le recevoir au “Foreign Office” Vendredi prochain a trois heures'.

Document, folio, fold marks, tipped onto card of similar size, good condition, printed form instructing acceptance of men into the Greenwich Hospital with details added in MS, including the names of the men to be admitted, the signatures of Lords of the Admiralty (Sandwich, Palmerston, and Hugh Palliser) and by Philip Stephens, Secretary (see Oxford DNB)

1p, landscape 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged, with thin strip of paper from mount on reverse, which is endorsed: 'Dr. Oliver's Purge that will work Gently –'. Folded three times. Headed: 'For ye Right Honble | The Lord Palmerston'. Customary prescription, in Latin, over seven lines, beginning as usual with 'Rx'. At foot: 'W O | Octbr 9 1734'. From the distinguished autograph collection of the psychiatrist Richard Alfred Hunter (1923-1981), whose collection of 7000 works relating to psychiatry is now in Cambridge University Library.

4pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged. He asks her to say, 'in answer to the enquiries of Mr. Wiles that Lord Chandos comes forward as a Member of the Conservative party & a supporter of Lord Derby in opposition to the heterogenous combination found under Lord Palmerston'.

1p., 8vo. Good firm signature, undamaged, at foot of aged and damaged document. Laid out in the customary style, with printed text (headed 'Annuities, 3700l. per Week.') completed in manuscript. Recording a payment of £100 on an annuity to Palmerston, who is acting as an assignee. Signature of witness 'J Eedes' at foot. Palmerston's signature, written within a few months of his death, is a little shaky.

2pp., foolscap. In fair condition, on aged paper. The letter, no doubt sent to all the diplomatic missions, begins: 'I have the honour to acquaint you that The Queen has been pleased to accept of the Earl of Aberdeen's resignation of the Office of Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and to confide to me the Seals of that Department.' He names a day and time when he wil be 'happy to receive' him, 'in order to confide with you on any business upon which you may have received Instructions from your Court'.

4to, 24 pp, paginated 3-27. Lacking title-leaf; otherwise with text clear and complete under drop-head title (lacking the initial 'Carta de Junius Lusitanus' which would have been part of the missing title leaf) with Latin motto ('Palmam qui mecuit ferat.'). Disbound. On aged paper with slight wear to extremities. Addressing British Foreign Secretary Palmerston with regard to the United Kingdom's position on the Septembrist Revolt in Portugal in 1846. COPAC and WorldCat only lists three copies: at the British Library, Harvard and King's College London.

Folio, 29 + [i] pp. Disbound. Text complete and clear. Fair, on lightly-aged paper. Faint accession stamp at head of title. 'In accordance with the request of Viscount Palmerston, conveyed in Mr. Fitzroy's letter of the 31st day of October 1853, the Board have instituted very extensive inquiries among those acquainted with the means for the prevention of smoke, a great part of the evidence thus received being given in abstract in the Appendix to this Report.' The appendix runs from p. 11 to p. 29. Scarce: the only individual copy on COPAC at Southampton.

Printed on one side of a piece of paper, 23.5 x 17.5 cm. In fair condition, on aged paper. Laid down on a gilt-edged leaf from an autograph album, 24 x 18.5 cm. Firm, bold signature ('Palmerston'), 6 cm long, in bottom right-hand corner. Authorising the payment of £24 15s 9d to 'Mr. George Ripking, Assistant Surgeon of the Third Regiment of Hussars of The King's German Legion [...] being the approved Balance due to him for the Contingent Hospital Expenses of the said Corps, from the 21st. June to the 24th. December 1812, both days inclusive'.

4to: 1 p. Good. Folded three times. A neatly-written letter of introduction for 'Major William Henry Grote [1795-1844], of the 33d. Regiment, now at Malta, Brother of Mr. Grote MP. for London, who is about to visit Egypt': 'I beg leave to introduce him to your acquaintance, and to recommend him to your Protection and good Offices.'

Second baronet (1838-1928), English Liberal statesman and historian. Two pages, 8vo. Very good, with three small mounts adhering to verso of blank second leaf of bifoliate. Reads 'I am much obliged for your letter, and the kind invitation of the Palmerston Club to their annual dinner on Saturday 15th June at the Clarendon Hotel, but I regret very much that I am already engaged for that day'. Signed 'G O Trevelyan'.
