Written in a stylish and assured hand, the note reads: 'Dear Mrs Young, | Yes, I was Lance's friend - & I am glad to hear that the stick I gave him has descended to your son, to whom I wish all good. | Yours sincerely | Edward Marsh'.

Loosely inserted is a duplicated typescript (1p., 12mo), giving the address, opening times, and prices. John Zoffany is well represented.
