1st edition, 1886. 8vo. Pages: xxxv + 92. Original cloth blind stamped on front board. Paper browing with age, some fraying at head of spine and title leaf loosening; otherwise good copy. Variant spellings of some of the names in the list have been added in ink in a neat small contemporary hand perhaps by William G. Ullathorne who has inscribed fr.ep.

Octavo. Pages: xii + 327. Portrait frontispiece. Scarce life of the eminent Cuban ethical philosopher and pedagogue (1800-62). No copy in British Library. INSCRIBED at length by Rodriguez ('Washington DC. | April de 1878.') Poor copy: foxed and stained, in worn and damaged original brown cloth binding, crudely recased in new endpapers. A few unobtrusive annotations. Various library stamps.

Pamphlet, 7pp., cr. 8vo. Sub-title: Some facts concerning nutrition for the guidance of those engaged in administration of food relief to Famine-stricken districts. This pamphlet spreads word of the "new" knowledge about vitamins to a world in recovery from World War 1. One of the authors, Harriette Chick, helped spread the word to Vienna and Eastern Europe between 1919 and 1922. See #1988 for a collection of Harriette Chick publications.

Presentation inscription to top right-hand corner of title. Disbound: paginated in manuscript and with slight offsetting to verso of last leaf. No copy of this offprint in the British Library. The author Dr Hugh Welch Diamond (1809-86) was editor of the photographic journal, and a pioneer of psychiatric photography.

351 pages, 8vo. Unbound: in original brown printed wraps. In good condition, but with wraps browning and creased. Ownership inscription on inside of front wrap. An important collection, with the bibliography accompanied by seventeen essays, including ones by J. D. Fleeman, Arthur Sherbo, Joyce Hemlow and Gwin J. Kolb.

Five leaves, folio. One page blank. Unbound and stitched as issued. Good, but creased and foxed, with slight wear to extremities. Comprising bill (four pages), schedule, memorandum, arrangement of clauses.

Good+. Dustjacket (not price-clipped)with one-inch tear, sl. bumped and sl. worn in parts, mainly vg. INSCRIBED by autho on title-page: "To Dagmar Jenkin: Slavomir Rawitz / 6th June 1956." Also inscription on front free endpaper by former owner, "Ian" [Jenkin] (also dated 6 June 1956).

Very good in dustjacket. INSCRIBED by author "Diana Holman-Hunt". She has also added the words "especially you" to her printed expression of gratitude to anyone who helped.

28 pages, 8vo. 14 leaves, the last a blank. Paginated [1-3] 4-26 [1-2]. Unbound and stitched as issued. In very good condition though grubby and with one dogeared corner. Brief mention (p.7) of John Payne Collier's discovery of 'The life of Robin Goodfellow' in the library of the Earl of Ellesmere, and of 'Mr. Halliwell'. No copy in the British Library.

THE PAMPHLET: 8vo, 21 pages, in original blue printed wraps. Somewhat dusty and bumped in one corner but in good condition overall. Inscribed on title-page 'With the good wishes of the author'. THE LETTER: 1 page, 8vo. Grubby and with jagged closed tear to one edge not affecting text. He thanks him for the note '& the enclosures with their prophetic words. How slow the material world is to react to the vision of its seers!' He hopes his 'little essay' will be of interest. He concludes 'Patrick Duncan was the only Milner man I knew & he, of course, has passed over.

8 leaves, 8vo, paginated [5-6] 7-19 [1]. Stitched: in contemporary brown plain wraps. In good condition, though folded in half lengthwise and with wraps rather grubby. Inscription reads 'Dr Tyndall FRS &c &c | from J P G'.

4to. [vi] + 131 pages. In original yellow binding, grubby and stained, gilt on spine faded. Handsome production on fine paper. Frontispiece, 18 illustrations and pedigree. PRESENTATION COPY from the editor (the subject's son) to his mother-in-law, with accompanying letter (1 page, 16mo, 29 December 1939, on letterhead 'NEASHAM HALL, NR. DARLINGTON.').

Unbound bifoliate. Four unpaginated pages. Dimensions of leaf roughly 8 inches by 5 inches. In very good condition, but with two instances of light creasing. The lessons were read by Val Gielgud and Judge Gordon Clark, and the panegyric was by C. S. Lewis.

Title continues: "Written on Papyrus preserved in the Library of the Armenian Monastery St. Lazaro." Pamphlet, green paper wraps, corners v. sl. turned but very good otherwise. Pp.36, sm. 8vo. Ordination of Buddhist priest, etc. COPAC records only one copy, at Birmingham, but dated 1875. No copy in BL.

In very good condition, one vertical crease from catalogue being folded on itself, and with negligible rust staining from staple. The sale comprised 'Lady's and Gentleman's Single, Tandem, Roadster and Road Racer Safeties, Including Osmonds, Humbers, Simpsons, Acatenes, Royal Psychos, Popular Starleys, Premiers, Cameos, Raglans, Olympic, &c., &c.', sold on behalf of 'Mr. PERCY L. YOUNG'. Front wrap headed 'Priced Catalogue' in manuscript 'CONDITIONS OF SALE' on verso of front wrap.

Disbound, poor condition, frayed, soiled, worm-holed in parts, some pages detached or semi-detached, but text clear and complete. INSCRIBED "Geo. Vansittart Esq. from the author" i.e. Bernard. Note: see DNB for George Vansittart, nephew of theSecretary to the Treasury to whom Bernard addressed "Letter to the Right Hon. N. Vansittart on Repeal of the Salt Duties". A scarce pamphlet.

(Lord Kelvin) 19 leaves (printed one side only), 4to, not bound. A rare promotional brochure and price list for navigational instruments including the dry-card compass, the first modern compass. Thomson had invented the compass the previous year. The reports are accompanied by statistics and are from Captains of vessels experimenting with the new invention (White Star, P & O, etc.)

4to. 36 leaves and 18 engravings. Bound in plain and worn black cloth, with remains of two ribbon strips on back board. Some of the plates are heavily foxed, but otherwise the volume is in very good condition. Examples of the two attractive alternative decorated bindings are attached to the front and rear endpapers. Over the front pastedown is laid an example of the front board of the dark blue cloth binding of the six-volume edition, heavily decorated in gilt with masonic insignia (all-seeing eye, chain of office, dividers, etc.) inside a decorative gilt border containing other insignia.

4to. In good condition, in original stamped patterned cloth and with attractive red leather label (somewhat worn) stamped with gilt on front board. Boards with bevelled edges worn and frayed at corners. Marbled endpapers, with front hinge cracked. Contains ten leaves comprising: frontispiece ('PLATE II. | TINTERN ABBEY. | EXTERIOR VIEW OF THE EAST END.'); title-leaf (title-page in red and black, with vignette and ruled with red lines); leaf with 'TABLE OF CONTENTS'; first two leaves of 'PREFACE' (pp.i-iv); and five leaves of text (pp.103-112).

8vo. Pages: xi + 87. One of only a hundred copies, according to the British Library catalogue. In original red cloth binding with short title in gilt on front board (somewhat grubby and stained with stained manuscript title on spine). Tight copy but with front hinge cracked. Bookplate of Howard H. Cotterell of Walsall, and with his ownership inscription on title-page, which is neatly blindstamped with his address in top right-hand corner.

[Tenison's descendant Thomas Joseph Tenison, J.P., Barrister-at-Law]. 2-leaf folio notice, on laid paper with Britannia watermark, dimensions approximately 13 inches by 8 inches. Recto of first leaf and verso of second leaf blank, with text on verso of first leaf and recto of second leaf, the latter paginated '2'. Creased and discoloured, with several closed tears. Apprarently a unique item, printed for insertion in the Archbishop's own 'copy of the Holy Scriptures, published in the year of our Lord 1638'.
