A. B.' Divided into four sections: 'Some Remarks on the Proposed Establishment of a Central Seminary', 'An Alternative Policy and Its Feasibility', 'Our Resources and our Models' and 'On the Separate Education of Ecclesiastical Students'. Now scarce.

20pp., 8vo. With eleven plates, one of them a double. Stitched and unbound. Grey paper front cover with title present, but lacking rear cover. In fair condition, lightly aged and worn, with stitching added to strengthen spine. Tastefully presented. Begins: 'As an architect resident in Birkenhead for nearly twenty years, I have naturally taken considerable interest in the one relic of antiquity in that most modern of English towns.

32pp., 8vo. Stitched. With leaf tipped-in carrying a one-page addendum transcript of a 'Letter from His Eminence Cardinal Manning', 1887. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. In illustrated wraps printed in green and yellow, the front cover carrying an illustration of 'St. Patrick receiving the Commission at Rome from Pope Celestine I. to preach the Gospel to the Irish People'; the back cover with illustration of 'St. Patrick preaching to the Irish Chieftains at Tara'. Over the last five pages, in small type, is a 'List of Contributors'.

59 + [1]pp., 8vo. Stitched and disbound. In fair condition, lightly aged and worn. The author is not named on the title-page, but the text ends, p.59, with the signature in type of 'CHARLES LARKIN.' The final page carries a list of 'Errata'.

48pp., 8vo. Disbound. In good condition, lightly aged and worn. Dedication, on reverse of title, from 'The Catholics of Birmingham' to 'The Liberal Protestants of Birmingham'. Now scarce.

Pamphlet, [12]pp., inclusive of printed beige (unless aged white) wraps, poor condition, frayed crumbling edges, closed tears, but text complete. I.e. requires binding. Manuscript note on title, "The truth about the Massie Fortesque Case" with illegible initials. With: typed biography of the author, Walter Francis Dillingham, Hawaiian entrepreneur and statesman, known by some as "Mr Hawaii". Scarce; copies held only by Oregon and Honolulu libraries (WorldCat).

Two issues of "De Ganzeveer", 1973, 12 and 14pp, green card wraps, very good condition, with Autograph Note Signed "Jan Schalkwijk", paper 14 x 11cm, "Dear mr. Fairbank, may I wish you a good Christmas & a good 1970! ! I hopew, de Ganzeveer" enjoys you. | Yours sinc. | Jan Schalkwijk." Calligraphically written.

Paginated, [111]-122, printed wraps, back cover listing John Heywood's "Educational Works". Tiny holes at spine indicate formerly bound in volume, aging but good condition. COPAC lists a copy at the BL, and within the series held by Manchester. No copy listed on WorldCat.

A crisply and attractively printed item, with a businesslike listing of mostly recent compositions, in four categories: 'Offerte' (from 'DI CASTELBARCO Conte Cesare' to 'SCHMID Antonio'), 'Doni', 'In Adempimento delle Prescrizioni Statutarie' (from 'BARATTINI Luigi' to 'RIVALTA Giuseppe') and 'Acquisti'. The only copy on OCLC WorldCat at the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

Disbound, 21pp., 8vo, foxing on first page, ow good condition. He discusses the most prominent aspects of dreams without attempting a scientific analysis of mind and brain that must enter into any complete theory. Note: Freud's work on Dreams was published in 1899. No other copy of this pamphlet is listed on COPAC/WorldCat. Note: Item extracted from bound volume of pamphlets with the bookplate of L.A.St L. Toke, scholar.

The title-page is headed: 'Collège de France | Cours de Philosophie Sociale | Leçon d'Ouverture | (16 décembre 1897)'. On p.6 Izoulet writes: 'cette leçon d'ouverture a pour but d'expliquer l'origine et le titre de la nouvelle chaire, la nature et l'esprit du nouveau cours'. Now scarce.

List at front of 27 'Members of both Houses of Parliament and other public men' who issued the 'original Manifesto', from 'Colonel Lord Ampthill, G.C.S.I., G.C.I.E.' to 'Lt.-Col. Lord Stafford, D.S.O.' Headings include 'Failure of the old Party System' and 'Aims of the National Party'.

Initial note: 'The following pages contain a general and necessarily brief description of the system followed by the Pensions Ministry.

24pp., 12mo. Disbound stitched pamphlet. In fair condition, lightly aged, with central vertical fold. In manuscript at head of title-page: 'No 6'. Having been Chancellor of the Exchequer during the Crimean War, Gladstone had resigned with the other Peelites at the beginning of 1855. Seven copies on COPAC, but now scarce.

8pp., 12mo. Stitched pamphlet. Aged, and with central vertical fold. A call for 'political instructors who shall [...] impress the first principles of political morality on the minds of the newly-enfranchised masses'.

18pp., 8vo, with additional 4pp. advertising (with many reviews quoted) Rohde's "A Practicable Decimal System", and a specimen page (illustrating coins) from the same work. Disbound, front wrap detached and heavily chipped (with note about cataloguing date initialled by a librarian). No back wrap. Text, one corner chipped, mainly good condition. Copies (of second edition - no first recorded) held by copyright libraries, a library in the Netherlands, and the LSE. None recorded in USA (WorldCat).

The handbill is 4pp., 8vo. on a bifolium. In good condition, on aged paper. The upper half of the first page carries the advertisement for 'Count Tolstoi's Works', headed 'Vol. I ready October 25th.' With coloured illustration of the book's design, captioned 'Reduced fac-simile of binding'. Regarding what is the earliest edition of Tolstoy's collected works in English (predating those of Wiener and Garnett by more than ten years), the publisher writes: 'Mr.

21pp., 8vo. On title-page: 'This Lecture, the substance of which forms part of an unpublished work, is reprinted for the Married Women's Property Committee, with the permission of the author.' In good condition, lightly-aged, no wraps, disbound. Two addresses written in pencil on reverse of last leaf, and a name in ink.

17pp., 8vo. Unbound. In fair condition, on aged paper with slight rusting to staple. Addressed 'To the Council of the Library Association of the United Kingdom'. The author explains that for the purposes of his report 'the definition of library appliances is mechanical contrivances designed to carry on or facilitate the work of a library, but excluding such as are connected with structural arrangements'. The only copy on either OCLC WorldCat or COPAC at the British Library and University of Bristol.

The full subtitle reads: 'Also, An Account of what is known of the Poet's Life: a Guide to the Town and Neighbourhood of Stratford-upon-Avon And sundrie other matters just now of publicke interest relating thereto.' 96pp., 8vo. In red printed wraps. Pp.79-96 carry advertisements, as do the wraps, and there is also a leaf of advertisements on red paper inserted at rear. Aged and spotted, in brittle and worn wraps with slight loss to extremities. Illustrations in text. At head of front cover: 'Published under the Authority of the Committee.' Several copies on COPAC, but now uncommon.
